                                                                          GLOBAL WARMING

ANS: The global warming means the increase in the temperature of the earth. This increase is slow and gradual but steady. According to the meteorological experts the temperature of the Polar Regions has increased in the last 30 years 3 degree Celsius. This is not apparently dangerous but the result will be disastrous. The primary cause of this global warming is the gradual decay of the Ozone layer over the green vegetation world. Deforestation and pollution of the environment by cars, factories and industries are also the major causes of this global warming. Man needs care and caution in the matter of his mad pursuit for a more advanced civilization for his greater comforts and convenience. He must now stop this perish or live without water and on a warming weather. Responsibility for this however lies with the man in the main.

                                                                          POLLUTION

Environmental pollution is one of the greatest and latest threats of the world. It refers to the way in which different elements of the environment get polluted. Water, air, noise, and soil are being polluted day by day. Smoke, dirt, gas, moisture unsteady temperature and so on are causing air pollution. The smoke from the factories and motorized vehicles are exhausting containing co2, so2, CO, N2O, ETC. Polythene, plastic, oil, insecticide, chemical wastes, sewage etc. are polluting the soil and the water. The tanks, ponds, lakes, rivers, etc. are now unhygienic. Soil has lost its normal fertility. Microphones, loudspeakers, electronic horns etc. are now using randomly. They cause noise pollution, trees are uprooting for modern civilization and industrialization. Pollution makes life insecure.                                                                               HOBBY

A man without a hobby is like a ship without a rudder. Hobby is special liking of a person. Hobby has a very important bearing on life. To read is my favourite hobby. I love to read books. It has ever acted as the sauce of my day to day life. I read my class-books regularly. But whenever I get a chance, I open my out of syllabus books. Science fiction, general knowledge books, novels, short story, detective and mysterious books etc. are included in my catalogue. I mainly read these books in my spare time or leisure time or in the time of journey. So my friends call me a book worm. But I do not mind their accusation. Reading is a passion with me. It is in my very blood. I get immense blessings from them. They never pain me but they ever please me. So, my hobby is truly the sauce of my life.

                                                                      BOOK FAIR.

Fair is classified into two categories. One is religious fair and another is social fair. Book fair is included into later category. Book fair is a new kind of fair. In winter towns are decorated with this new aspiration. Generally stalls are made in a field. Publishers generally organize the book fair. Publishers pile the books in the stalls. Book lovers come and buy the books. In a book fair one can read a little before purchasing the books. Publishers for national level or international level come to the book fair. One can get a chance to carry his desire by visiting the book fair. Last winter I went to a book fair in our college ground. I moved from one stall to another in search of my desired books. There were in total 139 stalls where different kinds of books were displayed. I bought a few books and returned in a good mood. A book fair is no doubt very important in our life. It increases interest as well as the personal relationship with the books.

                                                                         MOBILE PHONE/CELL PHONE

Mobile phone is one of the greatest inventions of the science. There was a time when a telephone happened to be the proud possession of a few persons of fortune. But all is thoroughly changed now a day. The mobile phone has changed the whole communication system. Letter posting is now history. Telegraph/telegram is now dead. The mobile phone is the best medium of communication. The mobile phone rings everywhere from the interior room to the broad street. This is also in almost all hands, from a business magnate to a young school girl. Beside the communication, a mobile phone is being used as a camera, MP36/MP4 player, phone book, calculator, clock, calendar, torch, internet browser and so on. There can be no denial of the necessity of the cell phone. But all is not good here. A few selfish persons and criminals are using the mobile phone to fulfill their target. So, proper caution is needed in the use of the phone. Otherwise its blessing will be turned into a curse.

                                                                     IMPORTANCE OF NEWSPAPER READING

A cup of tea and a newspaper are two essential things for us every morning. A newspaper makes us familiar with various news from every corner of the world. It gives us news about political and economic matters, sports and games, cinema and theatres, trade and commerce etc. it publishes articles on science, health, industry, agriculture and space. A newspaper exercises great influence over its readers. It shapes public opinion. It enriches our general knowledge. The news and views given in newspaper have immense educative value. But a news paper must be impartial and give proper guidance to masses.

                                                                 THE EDUCATIVE VALUE OF TRAVELLING

Ans: The thrill of knowing the unknown and seeing the unseen ever attracts man. And it is travelling that enables him to know the unknown and see the unseen. In it lies one of the chief sources of delight and recreation. The educative value of travelling is too great to be exaggerated. It is reasonably regarded as an essential part of education. Education received schools or a college is supplemented by travelling. Books arouse our curiosity and travelling satisfies it. Books give us only an outline of what is worth knowing. We can know the details by travelling. Travelling gives a touch of reality to the knowledge we gather from books in schools and colleges. Again, travelling enables us to come in close contact with different people having different modes of living and racial characteristics. We learn much about men and manners, which undoubtedly adds to our knowledge. It broadens our outlook and removes our narrowness and makes us realize the unity of mankind beneath all the confusing diversities.

                                                        AN EDUCATIONAL TOUR TO MURSHIDABAD

Last week we, the students of Dhupguri High School, had a fabulous time as our school arranged an excursion for the students of class XI and XII along with the History and Bengali teachers. It was a three days trip to Murshidabad. We started our journey by an AC Volvo bus at 6 a.m. on 22May 2017. Inside the bus we started enjoying a lot with each other and reached our destination in the afternoon. From the next morning we started visiting the places like Topkhand, Motijhil, Katra Mosque, Imambara. Later we visited Hazarduari Palace, the most significant historical site. We were amazed to think of the glory of the Nawabs. The next day we visited rest of the sites on horseback. The places brought engrossing view in our mind’s eyes. The last day we experienced a sense of anguish with the setting sun and returned to the hotel with a heavy heart. We returned to our dear school after three days.

                                                                                          CHILD LABOUR

Child labour is one of the greatest burning questions all over the world. It is posing a grove problem before our country. We often see children below sixteen working in factories, hotels, restaurants, tea-stalls and motor garages. They are child labourers. Extreme poverty and illiteracy are the main cause behind this problem. We often see the children collecting, broken materials from the heaps of garbage when they should go to school. These children often meet immature death bitten by snake or infection. Beside children are paid low wages. We need a thorough economic reform and the spread of literacy. Laws should be framed to save the children. It is very essential to wipe out this shameful practice. Otherwise the country will not get ideal citizens in near future.

STORMY NIGHT/A MEMORABLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE

I cannot forget that evening. It was last Sunday. My parents went to town to attend a marriage party. I was all alone at home. In afternoon I went to the play ground to play with my friends. Suddenly we noticed a dark black cloud in the western sky. It was not a normal cloud. Within a moment a great wind appeared in the western sky also. Cattles started to shout. We started to run for a shelter. Dust and leaves were carried in the air. Trees bent their heads to pass the great wind in a great respect. Suddenly a bough from a large tree broke down and fell in front of me. I carried out but it vanished in the air. Among these the cloud covered the sky and thunder started to shout. Suddenly mid-night darkness came in that evening. I could not find out the way. A roof of a house was flying in the air. The lightening however helped me to reach our house. I opened the door and went to the balcony from where I observe the destructive activities of the great wind. After half an hour the wind died down and a fine rain started to fall. My parents come back late at night and I went to my bed taking a great experience about the wind and its activities.

                                                          MY FAVOURITE SEASON

My favourite season is spring. There are six seasons in Bengal, but the last season is my favourite season among them. The nature of Bengal puts on a very beautiful look during this season. There is lush greenery all around. The white clouds sail in the blue sky. It is a season of flowers and festivals. Colourful flowers laugh among the twigs. Different kinds of festivals are also held in the time. A mild pleasant wind blows from the south. The weather is also favourable. Bees are busy to collect honey from flower to flower. Cuckoo comes out and sings a sweet note. I like the season the most because all branches of every tree are covered with colourful flowers which are the feast for the eyes.

                                                                 MAN AND TREES

Man has an eternal relationship with trees. From the beginning of the civilization they exist side by side with man as his friend and savior. Trees provide us food, shelter, medicines, fuel furniture and other necessary things. They absorb carbon di-oxide in course of photo –synthesis and emit oxygen without which we cannot live. Besides, they check flood, landslides, drought and environmental pollution. But today deforestation has become a global problem. If we carry on cutting trees thoughtlessly, it will be impossible to prevent soil erosion, flood, drought and famine. It will also be a fatal blow to the echo-system of nature. The level of environmental pollution will increase to such an extent that the survival of man and animals will be endangered. So, extensive plantation programme should be taken. Otherwise, we shall dig our own graves.

                                                                      VALUE OF EARLY RISING

Early rising is a good habit. It gives us good health and long life. Morning is the best time for work, a walk or any other exercise. This exercise builds our body and supplies us with a fund of energy for the day’s work. The early riser finishes a large amount of work before others get out of bed. To an early riser work is a joy and not a burden. Nature unfolds her treasure of beauty to the early riser. He feels the fresh air free from pollution. Every morning, day comes to him with a virgin’s love, full of bloom and freshness.

                                                           ADVANTAGES OF MORNING WALK

Ans: morning walk is a healthy habit. It is the best form of exercise. It provides pure air to the heart, purifies blood, improves the health and refreshes the mind. Morning walk is the good start for the whole day’s work. While walking in the morning we can hear the songs of the early birds, see the beauty of the rising sun and the blooming beauty f the morning flowers. Morning walk is very helpful for the fat persons who require to reduce weight. Morning walk is the easiest, cheapest and independent exercise which can be carried out without the help of any instructor. A morning walk a day keeps the doctor away.

Describe in a short paragraph (within seventy words) your experience of enjoying a picnic.

A Grand Picnic

Winter is the best season for Picnic.

Last year in December I along with some friends went for a Picnic by a beautiful car.

We went to Kunjanaga, a village 10km far away from Falakat.

We chose the spot as my uncle lives there and we wanted to enjoy the natural beauty of the village.

We chose the picnic spot in a garden beside a large river and Jaldapara Forest.

My uncle arranged all things.

We enjoyed the day by playing tennis, badminton and hide and seek.

We ate various/different mouth-watering dishes.

We danced, sang and enjoyed the natural beauty of the village.

We returned home in the evening. It was a memorable experience.

                                                          IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON EDUCATIO

The education sectors of India as well as world are badly affected by Covid-19. However, impact of covid-19 on education has few positive outcomes apart from the many negative aspects of the pandemic.

Positive Impact of Covid-19 on Education:-

Covid-19 has accelerated adoption of digital technologies to deliver education. Educational institutions moved towards blended mode of learning. It has encouraged all teachers and students to become more technology savvy. Learning materials are shared among the students easily and the queries are resolved through e-mail, SMS, phone calls and using different social Medias like whatsApp or Facebook.Teachers have also adopted new methods of teaching like through PPTs, videos, video conferencing. Students definitely learn new computer skills as they have to do lots of assignments through computer or laptops only. Even those who are preparing for competitive exams are being provided with an opportunity to avail online crash course or classes on 50% discount.

Negative Impact of Covid-19 on Education:

Education sector has suffered a lot due to the outbreak of Covid-19. It has created many negative impacts on education. Classes have been suspended and exams of different levels postponed. Admission process got delayed. Many students and teachers are not good at online teaching- learning. Moreover, online learning has also been a problem to poor or lower middle class students who have no internet facilities. Many students have limited or no internet access.  Many students may not be able to afford computer, laptop or supporting mobile phones in their homes. Online learning has created a digital divide among students. The lockdown has hit the poor students very hard in India as most of them are unable to afford online learning. Due to covid-19, online learning method has created a gap between rich and poor and urban and rural.

I am very glad to receive your nice letter today. From your letter, I have come to know that you are well at your home. I am also fine. In your letter you have wanted to know about the place of historical interest I have recently visited. So, I am writing this letter to you.

During the last summer vacation I went to Murshidabad with my parents. We went there by the Lalgola Express. It was the capital of Bengal during the Nawab rule. We saw the sights, travelling by tanga, a horse driven cart. At first, we visited the Hazarduari. It is a nice palace with many real and some false doors. We saw the weapons used by the Nawab of Bengal. We visited the Motijhil, a big tank. We saw Khasbag where Alibordy lay buried. We went to the Katra Mosque. It is now in ruins. Lastly, we saw the tomb of Shiraj. All these lead me to a long past of the history of Bengal. I enjoyed the visit to these places very much. The memory of this visit will remain vivid in my mind for many years to come.

No more today. I hope you must visit this place. More when we meet. You must convey my regards to your parents and love to your younger brother Dhiraj. Take my love.

Dear Raja,

I am very glad to receive your nice letter today. From your letter, I have come to know that you are well at your home. I am also fine. But I am extremely sad to know that you use mobile phone unscientific way/ excessively.              The invention of mobile phone has brought about a revolution in the field of communication. It has established links among the different parts of the world easily. It has made  life more easy and smooth. But due to indiscriminate use of mobile phone, we face many problems. While driving, the use of mobile phone causes fatal accidents. The shrill ringtone, heart throb music and loud conversation over the phone in crowded buses, trains, and public place are really troublesome and boring. The teaching learning procedure and academic atmosphere are seriously hampered by the use of mobile phone in the class room. The teenagers are becoming addicted to it. Mobile phone kills their time and makes them rather craze. Even excessive use of mobile phone may cause brain cancer.

I hope you should not use mobile phone excessively. You must follow my advice from now. More when we meet. You must convey my regards to your parents and love to your younger brother Dhiraj. Take my love.

Dear Raja,

I am very glad to receive your sweet letter today. From your letter, I have come to know that you are well at your home. I am also fine. I am writing this letter to you about a book that I have recently read.

Recently I have read the book PATHER PANCHALI by Bibhutibhusan Bandhapadhyay. It was given me on my birthday by my father.  While reading the book, I forgot all about myself and spent hour after hour with Apu, the central figure in the novel, and the author traces the story of his life from his boyhood day. His father is Harihar, a simple village priest. His mother is Sarbajaya and his sister is Durga, a simple village girl. A poor family struggling hard to earn its bread is the keynote of the pathos which stirs deeply the mind of the readers. This note of pathos reaches its climax at the premature death of Durga. I like this book for its plot, superb style of expression and great literary power of the author. The language is very simple and the characters are lively.

No more today. I hope you must read this book and write me about your feeling. More when we meet. You must convey my regards to your parents and love to your younger brother Dhiraj. Take my love.

There are many professions in our society. But I like to take up medical profession and want to be a good doctor. Most of the people of my village are poor. They do not get proper treatment for the lack of money. The poor farmers are the most sufferers. They are to go to town for treatment and it is very expensive. After passing M.B.B.S., I shall go to my native village. There is no qualified doctor in my village. I shall give them free medical advice and medicine free of cost as much as possible. I shall also make them aware of disease and infection. Thus, I shall try to help them in their distress.

Because of covid-19, we all have spent our days at home during lockdown. I hope you have followed all the rules of corona. During this lockdown schools, colleges and markets have been closed. It is very helpful and I have learnt something new. I have written two poems and a story on the suffering of people during covid-19. Due to lock-down, I miss you and all of friend. But at home, I really enjoyed with my parents. My mother made various tasty foods for me every day. However, our scientists have invented vaccine. I hope everyone will be vaccinated soon. Please inform me how you have spent your time during this lockdown.

 PARAGRAPH

          AN EDUCATIONAL TOUR TO MURSHIDABAD

Educational tours are of great importance. They boarden our outlook and enhance our knowledge more than books can. Last year our school organized an educational tour to Murshidabad in the summer vacation. We, a party of twenty-five students, joined the tour. It was a three-days long tour. Our teachers of history accompanied us on the tour as our escorts. We hired a luxury bus for this purpose and boarded on it early in the morning. We were in a jubilant mood. The entire journey was transported by witty jokes and quiz on History. After a journey of five hours, we reached our destination and checked in a hotel. The very next day we went out a –visiting from site to site. The tombs of different Nawabs, palaces, Qatra Mosque, the beautiful garden of Katgola, Moti Jheel—all began to throb with historical implications before our eyes. The majestic beauty of Hazarduari and the cannon lying on the bank of the Bhagirathi made History real. The very air of the vast field of Plassey across the Ganges appeared to be laden with battle cry and bloodshed. This reminded me of Siraj fighting against Robert Clive tooth and nail only to lose because of Mirajaffar’s betrayal. This tour really took us to world of past. Finally we set out for our return journey on the third day morning with the experience of a hilar Safe Drive, Save life ' is one of the dream projects of the honourable chief Minister of West Bengal. The campaign was launched on 8th July, 2016 from Nazrul Manch in Kolkata. The government officials and law enforcing  agencies of the state represented this campaign. The purpose of this campaign  is to  engrain a sense of safe driving and responsible road behaviour among people in the state. Omission of the slightest precautions of safety may bring jeopardy. The increasing number of road accidents and deaths have led the state government to the motivation and impetus to improve the road safety situation across the state. People are often seen avoiding traffic rules and road safety measures. The carelessness of them often turns fatal. To curb the increasing number of accidents in the state, the Chief  Minister  advised the traffic officers for  strict enforcement of rules (with sensitive handling of defaulters). This campaign should be welcomed as road –safety

Safe drive save life paragraph Answer Number 5

Safe Drive, Save Life” was a campaign launched by the West Bengal Government in order to create a safe country for accident-related injuries. Everybody goes to work every day, whether it is in the country or at home. Accidents happen all the time, so we don’t feel comfortable driving. This well-known campaign will help you understand the importance of safe driving in your busy day. We don’t follow traffic rules. This leads to road accidents every day. It is important to remember the meaning speech ” Save Drive Save Life“. Don’t rush to cross roads, or drive. When we cross roads, be patient. Car drivers need to be aware of their important roles. Respecting the rules is an important responsibility. This campaign will spread this awareness among the countrymen. To prevent people from getting into an accident zone, we should organize a roadshow and display banners or posters. The campaign Safe Drive Save Life plays a significant role in modern life. It is a way to live an accident-free life.
